Miles
Cicely Tyson, the wig, the Members Only and panther jackets….nothin' but the wahwah, soundtracks, covering Cyndi Lauper and other pop artists of the day…that last decade was rough.

The Godfather III….and throw Puzo on the list too.

Off the top of my head…
I think of The Parallax View, Network, or Fail Safe, movies that I remember seemed so very dialogue heavy, so adult. Great films by the way.

If I may…"The Genuine Scoop" (5 disc set)
All the Townshend home demos, his voice, his bass playing, his synths, his drums…If you can find it (not very difficult)…do so, amazing!

The Jonestown death tape
This has to be considered pop culture right? All this fucking horror and wrong was recorded over a Delfonics tape. Shame.
This scarred me when I first heard it, at about 13, 14.

Fully agree, saw TCM around 10, 11…the slow burn camera, up and into the house, the slamming of the steel door…just fucking brutal. That didn't leave me for a long time.

Helter Skelter (1976)
I remember seeing the original TV movie adaptation of the book as a kid. They played the hell out of it late nights in the summer. And it scared the living shit out of me! Somehow 70's TV movies were just relentless, come to think of it. And later, maybe at 15, 16, I read the Bugliosi book. Fuck!

Aphex Twin…
Paradinas, Squarepusher, Vibert…Warp Records, etc. Huge fan!. And just fucking hard to sell to someone if the person doesn't want it…or just is totally indifferent. Same goes for electric era Miles…Jazz…And how about Rush? Don't get me started. I will no longer defend.

Elliot Gould
Capricorn One
The Long Goodbye
S*P*Y*S
Getting Straight
Little Murders
Busting

Yeah, great. Reminds me of Peter Fonda telling the story that he and Warren Oates were hanging out on his boat in Newport Beach one day, smokin' a joint, and out of nowhere, The Duke appeared. He stepped right on the boat, said hi, and asked if Fonda had any scotch. The weed was quickly hid, and Wayne said he didn't

Once Were Warriors
Half the cast…right.

couple more….
The crushing race scene and "They shoot horses, don't they?" suicide scene in They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
The interview and later the sink scene in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
The Parallax Corporation training film in The Parallax View

Oates, thinking of what to do exactly, before killing Kris Kristofferson and his biker pal in Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia. Great scene.

Love the Keenan Wynn Coke machine scene in Strangelove…priceless.

Travis and Iris have lunch, great fucking scene.
"I don't know who's weirder, you or me"

So many
The closer in Electra Glide in Blue
Frank Vincent (Billy Batts) killing and aftermath in Goodfellas (Donovan playing under)
David Thewlis talkin' to Ewen Bremner in Naked
The opening of Dog Day Afternoon
"Shifter car" scene in Buffalo 66
Getting rid of the body in Movern Callar
Verna Bloom walking thru Grant Park

Yes… The Wild Bunch, it really is amazing…fucking amazing! I have to say, The Searchers though….a better film I think, really tuff call? The Searchers…It's such a blueprint for so many of these films, truly the ultimate anti-hero. Speaking of, so many American revisionist westerns of the late 60's-early 70's never get

You know why?…because it's so fucking good it hurts.

Yeah, agree, I don't understand. And I can say I didn't care for Gummo….I liked elements of Mister Lonely, looked great, but again, shock value, nothing more. Gummo, right time, right market. Remember this guy on Letterman? http://www.youtube.com/watc…
Fuck him.
Do you or your work have something to say?
