the sole appeal is nostalgia.  You had to be a girl who grew up in the 80's to like them.  Because they are shit.  Not even one redeemable song in that back catalogue.  The only half-hearted defense I can come up with is that "Every Rose Has it's thorn" is referenced in Bill & Ted's.
