that's what sucks about local music scenes.  If you actually want to make any money at it you either have to be a shitty cover band or a shitty mashup/top-40 DJ.

yeah but that $100 for Green Day is split between 3 or 4 dudes, or however the hell many members they had at the time.  Plus the gas driving between towns probably ate up any profits, even though gas was a hell of a lot cheaper back then.
