I'm pretty sure it's only 'new' as in it hasn't aired in Australia. The same channel is airing 'new' New Girl episodes that at this point will probably have just started season 3.

And, as a quick Google stated that Richard Ayoade was also a member of the Footlights (apparently he was president, as was Mitchell 2 years prior), I can only assume that he is the kid with the afro.
