This has nothing to do with Transformers, but on the subject of Ebert reviews, this has got to be my favorite:

Reread It, and the gangbang might make a bit more sense. It's pretty hideous, though, and creepier when you think of this middle age guy writing about a bunch of preteens having sex.
I basically meant it as a gateway to his later career. Since the accident he's had a radically different prose style, and he's less interested in resolving the mysteries and various threads in his books. Cell, From A Buick 8, they all stop just short of explaining what happens or why. The Colorado Kid does that in a…
Later Work
I'm a big fan of King's more recent work, even if it isn't as important to me personally. He has a trait I've always admired in a writer, that he'll find something interesting, research it, and then write a book around it. It isn't always successful, but it is almost always enjoyable, and he sure knows how…
That's exactly what it was, but at that age, all I remember is reading the book, seeing news reports of people dying from what looked like the flu, and my hippy uncle filling my head with conspiracy theories about government biological weapons. I had to take the book back to the library, I just couldn't do it.
A couple long comments…
I can't remember if It was the first book of King's that I read, but it's close to it. I was the exact same age as the kids in the book, and while I wasn't terrified of the book(though it is effective), I was definitely caught up in it's spell. I've read it a couple times since then, and it's…
Willeford
I've been wanting to read some of his stuff since watching Cockfighter and listening to the commentary. I did a bit of reading into him(mainly wikipedia), and he sounds like an interesting guy. I look forward to experiencing his writing.
ARGH!
I bought the book and then too my sweet ass time with it. I'm only halfway through! Hopefully I can burn through it tonight and join in for the rest of the week…
Anybody here following ZMF on twitter? The voice that read the TwitterTracker thing is exactly how I imagine ZMF saying all his tweets.
Pop Culture Ephemera
Wasn't there already a column somewhat like this awhile back? I think Rabin was doing most, or all, of it from what I read.
Does anyone else remember being completely turned on by the implied bestiality in any of the episodes where Wishbone's book required him to be a romantic lead?
Awesome
I can't help it, I love this movie. From the randomness to the hairmetal to the overly simplistic and schmaltzy 'plot'. Everything. It just has such a good vibe, a tone that's missing from most comedy since American Pie(and probably a bit earlier). There's really nothing mean-spirited in this movie. Even Rod's…
And I realize I sound kinda dickish about that, I'm not trying to say your opinion is invalid. If you didn't like the later films, you didn't like 'em. I just think you might be a bit more harsh on them than they deserve.
I think you might be putting too much weight on Pixar's shoulders. They are, and always have been, doing their best to market their creations to consumers. It's what every single artist does as soon as they put their work out for sale.
The Lookout fared better when I saw it the second time, during some random cable airing. It is pretty generic, but Leavitt is, as stated, phenomenal in it.
Nice
OK, I have to admit, I don't often read the Hater, but this was hilarious.
I've only read George Bush, Dark Prince of Love(aside from Heart), and I really didn't like that. It had a thoroughly unlikable character, and didn't seem to have much to say.
Suggestion
Mr. T, The Man With the Gold, by Mr. T
Kafka on the Shore is a really good one, you should read that.
Excellent All Around
I've read No Country for Old Men and The Road, and this book is sitting in the pile by my bed. It'll be good to finally get to this one.
