This was definitely the most mainstream and accessible of Bahrani's films, introducing the central tension in the first ten seconds or so. The flaming extrovert/guy who just wants to be left alone dynamic reminded me of Thomas McCarthy's "The Station Agent."

I thought this was great material, but pretty clumsily handled - it should've been funnier. The jokes were there, but they were buried on the "United 93" faux-doc feel of it all. Blomkamp resembles his protagonist, making a mess of a complicated project.
