I understand Lane was in total breakdown mode and the show did a great job of showing it but alcohol and depression don't erase all your common sense. He literally did this the day after Don fired him. I guess he just didn't care.

Very well done episode. Aside from the season opener, the last two are the only episodes of real depth this year. Season two feels much more like a table setter than a stand alone season in a great series.
