That is still the Strokes album I turn to most. I've never understood it when people say it sounds just like the first one.

If I ever want to listen to music with fiddles and a banjo in it (which does happen, sometimes), my go-to is 'To-Rye-Ay' by Dexy's. I hate Mumford and Sons for many reasons. I mainly hate them because they wear waistcoats and they really want us to know about it. Bunch of fake-folk, fiddling-phony fucks!
I'm currently reviewing the fireplace fight scene in women in love. Just a regular Friday.
Especially now he is a corpse.
He would make an interesting/terrifying dinner party guest.
Makes sense. I miss Oliver Reed.
I always go straight for 'The Sound of Failure' -> 'Vein of Stars'. Such a fantastic sequence. For me 'Pompeii Am Gotterdammerung' sounds like its from the soundtrack to a particularly trippy sci-fi film from the 70's. And that's a good thing!
It gets better. Will soon be introducing my 2 year old to lego. You understand this will be almost entirely for my benefit.
I always preferred Gold to Heartbreaker, although Heartbreaker starts with a discussion about Morrissey, which is how all albums should start.
True Dat. Nothing else quite like that film. My favourite.
You don't need to apologise.
"Evening Sun" from FIOE
The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
Race for the Prize / A Spoonful Weighs a Ton
It's a good point well made.
Switch Blinking Lights and Souljacker, and Daisies and Shootenanny, which I struggled to get into for some reason. Time for another listen, perhaps.
On balance, it's probably my favourite Eels records. It's either that or Electroshock Blues.
It's interesting that Todd talks about Born to Run. I would agree with that choice, but for a different reason. I've only ever owned that album on vinyl and for some reason I always put on side B first thinking it's side A. For me, the title track is the first track on the album, and it is a great place to start!
Can't believe no one else mentioned it. Classic song, classic album.
The White Stripes' 'Elephant' - Seven Nation Army is always thrilling and then Black Math beats you into submission.
'I love you more than being 17' from Evening Sun. Not sure why; I think it just makes me wish I was still that young! I'm now twice that age! Christ!
