Yeah, I'm on this side. Jeremy's speech is really great, he delivers the hell out of it, and Natalie's stubborn resistance makes the whole thing work organically.

People brought up how they were miffed by the blatant synergy on the very first post of this recap, so I was ready to cringe at it. But I was surprised by how little of Dana's transformation is about the wonderfulness of The Lion King per se, and how quickly it becomes about theater in general, and opening yourself up

Well put; I agree with this assessment — as @avclub-1e850f6bef0bc36ca1f64e95ff1cbd2e:disqus puts it below, "the effect but not the fact."  Having the switchblade pop out is crazy cheesy. Having it be not a threat but a sharing impelement is over the top. But damn if Josh Charles doesn't redeem it all, and then some,

I raised my hand before I realized there would be Tori Spelling. Or hot glue guns (which I can't use without injuring myself). Or bedazzling.

Noel will confirm that "Always … No. Never …" is a running joke at our house.

Lurky, I'm an Elizabeth Moon fan … That's pretty close, right? (Have some Bujold on my shelf, though, must make time for it this summer; was highly recommended to me as something I'd dig.)

Yeah, pretty much what Lurky said. I like to pepper my usual tone (which may tend toward the arch, dry, and academic, thanks to my job) with some more casual phraseology. Might choose poorly sometimes, I'll grant.
