I've heard a version with him covering a stranger's eyes with his hands and whispering "Guess Who." Just out of academic curiosity about this particular contemporary legend, what other variants have people encountered?

"Secret" fans of the Wire exist?

But in the context of the study and getting board approval! It's all, "Oh heavens no, we can't approve a study about sex! Social mores!" No one is asking him, "So, how are you going to ensure that your participants' don't transfer diseases to one another? Are you going to want to answer Scientific Questions about

The ethical problems with a study like this are driving me bonkers. Why hasn't anyone mentioned diseases yet?!

I enjoy this show a lot, but I found the scene of Michelle sneaking fries and sugar into Boo's food weirdly upsetting. I know, junk food is beloved character in the ASPverse, and I don't want Boo to lose a bunch of weight and suddenly have a traditional ballerina body, I just think sabotaging her earnest attempts at

I agree completely, especially about the "triviality" issue, but then I think that the smallest and most intimate aspects of everyday life and human relationships are the (only) way to understand those "big" things like war and poverty and genocide and life/death. Does anyone really not get that all of those

I agree with a lot of what you said here, and I know that you are taking the (abstract) position of critics of the show rather than necessarily voicing your own opinion, but you seem to be voicing a pretty oversimplified view of "authenticity." Rejecting a show as "inauthentic" because its writers or protagonists are

I enjoy (enjoy maybe isn't the right word… am drawn into, feel compelled by, intently watch) Girls because it makes me Feel a Lot of Things. They are all pretty terrible people, it's true (those who insist that Marnie is a better person are just distracted by how beautiful Allison Williams is— she seriously

I hope so much that Hannah doesn't sleep with her old writing professor, or more specifically that he doesn't try to sleep with her. I'm sure this will be addressed in some way, and it has to end up reflecting poorly on either Hannah, her professor, or both, but I just wish it didn't have to (/that I lived in a

It's depressing to watch early episodes of Bones, when Brennan was a (comparatively) well-rounded, believable character. They gradually wrote her as more and more remote— I don't know if they've ever said it explicitly, but I assume she's supposed to be playing someone with Asperger's. What actually drives me crazy is

I think Castle and Beckett as vigilantes/private eyes would make a much better show, though I don't think they'll go with it. I mean, the show barely acknowledges its ostensible police-procedural format as it is and has only a nodding acquaintance with accuracy, even the kind of "TV Police" rules established by L&O.

Y'know, I don't pretend this show is Great Television, but I love it to
death. Goofy theme episodes! Even goofier "dramatic" episodes! Witty banter! I will unapologetically watch any show with torturous romantic tension (as long as there is a modicum of character consistency, I'm lookin' at you, Glee and Bones). I
