I have a depressing number of former Survivors on my Facebook. They aren't interesting, though I did once have a nice chat with Africa's Carl "Doc" Bilancione. Remember "Doc"? Me neither.

The hell are you talking about? In terms of writing quality, this is much stronger than a lot of the stuff you'll read here.

Yeah, but an awful lot of South Park episodes the past few years are ripped-from-the-headlines "here's why this thing that's happening in the world sucks" stories, so if something's on South Park, it's fairly likely to be a real thing. I was pleasantly surprised that this time, they actually went to the "satire" well

Interesting - I read that comment the exact opposite way. i.e., day one alliances with the first random people you see are not built on anything, whereas later-in-the-game alliances are based on knowing and understanding where the people are coming from. The past few seasons disprove that…but most of the twenty

It's a classic Survivor argument, though: if you make what would be a mistake in the Survivor textbook, but it doesn't hurt you at all in the game, is it a mistake? Malcolm kept the cuddling from hurting him in the game in any way, *and* he got to cuddle with Angie. Arguably, the fact that he had that "relationship"

That actually pissed me off. He didn't almost die "for" the game. He almost died *during* the game, while doing things that had nothing to do with the game, due to his own terrible decisions, to the detriment of his tribe. And frankly, he strikes me as the kind of guy who probably almost dies in that way during his

Great point. China is one of my least favourite seasons because when there were (I think) 12 players left, it basically guaranteed F5 to the five people who happened to be in the right position after the shuffle…and because China based its shuffle on letting the tribes adopt the best of the other tribe's players,

cabspaintedyellow said it perfectly below - no one over the age of four should honestly believe that crossing your fingers or keeping a finger out of a handshake makes a lie not a lie. A lie is a lie. The thing you mention about Sandra crossing her fingers has always been a mark against her in my book, as is Kent's

Cabs, agreed 100% about the four-fingered handshake. I was so proud of Kent's very adult approach to Penner's entreaties - not, "Let's be best friends until the end, swear on my kids!", but, "Let's work together as long as it makes strategic sense for us both." It was *exacly* how Penner likes to work, and it was
