"Jesus sitting all alone in his TV studio, sadly singing, “Happy birthday to me…”
When this first aired - and I was a teenager, not a two-year-old - this bit SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME. I can't explain why. Something jarring about the cut? I don't know.

Why are you still here? Could you please try to stop still being here?

(shades of Sam's "I'm going to lose the election" then disappearing from the WH after presumably winning a seat in Congress).
It's similarly frustrating that this wasn't explained, yes. I thought it was obvious that he lost and then left politics because he was disillusioned by that bad experience.

I've always wished they would have explained *why* Bartlet was in danger of losing New Hampshire to Ritchie. It's made clear in earlier episodes that Bartlet is beloved in New Hampshire—-Congressman, governor, extremely popular, huge margins of victory. Ritchie doesn't seem like the kind of guy who'd sell in New

Yes, we all love the Rolling Stones.

Hey, Simpsons Classic people: for those of you who "enjoy" RABIIIIIIIIIIIN's awkward joke-paraphrasing/explaining, go find his recent article about hip-hop where he gives the same treatment to "Straight Outta Compton". That was the best hate-read I've had since I gave up Ayn Rand. Here's my impression of Rabin's take

Yes, and it was the best SNL episode ever. I still quote "Taintless Ted" at least three times a week. Go look up the transcript for "Taintless Ted". It will change your life. Horatio Sanz is hilarious in it. I'm not kidding.

@avclub-87caf7c42aedbada42572e2374eed08d:disqus The hell are you doing talking about soccer at a time like this? It's three hours until *your* big game. You need to focus. If you show up over there this afternoon all, "TEAMS NEED CONFIDENCE / ENGLAND CAN / …oh, crap, you guys. Sorry. I got thinking about soccer and I

Wait, "Rita and Runt" and "Slappy and Skippy" are two different things? Rita wasn't the annoying squirrel with the nephew, who was a runt? I don't remember Animaniacs very well at all. Where did my youth go?

Yeah, no, not *much* better at all—-like, if I give the Sorkin era 3 out of 100 on this front, I give the Wells era 4 out of 100. I was thinking more of the primaries…but even there, it's often typical Bartlet-style "the good guy wins because he gives a rousing speech at the end".
