Chris Elliot does a lot of that anyway, you can see it in many of the other episodes. I thought it was an awesome way to ret-con in some explanation of just some silly thing he would do to squeeze out extra giggles.

I've noticed the constant interrupitng a lot more lately, it bugged me a ton during the Dave Holmes episode since Dave was telling all these cool stories and he kept getting interrupted by (sorry) pretty lame jokes. Also, Jesse telling the exact same stories over and over again can get tiresome.

The "very expensive to license song over short montage" character has come up a lot since then. Besides the animation, that's the one thing that's so tonally different than the early Simpsons, always bugs the crap out of me.
