I never imagined a few weeks ago I would be defending Ethan because I hated him, but to be fair Ethan isn't asking her to be stay-at-home wife. When he suggests she quit her job, it is so she can complete school, a move that would, as Lillian noted, actually give Virginia greater independence than Masters allowed.

That might make the curse retread worth it for me. I am in favour of more Aurora and Mulan (Robin Hood can come too).

I was trying so hard not to go there. :P

Going after her has the added advantage of taking out a magic user, so she may not have been a random choice, but I don't think there was anything more than that to it.

Agreed. In fact I'm pretty sure I read an interview where she says she was reacting in part to Lana del Ray's work.

I definitely hate it more if he knew the whole time, even though the repressed memory thing is silly at least it isn't a betrayal of character.

except with Elena's college choice it should have come up much sooner.

C.

God I hope no one follows Caroline's example when it comes to helping a loved one with PTSD. Also they solved the problem in like an afternoon? Ugh.

I didn't think I could hate a TVD storyline more than I hated the sire bond one, but this could do it. Completely undoes Damon's character development and is just lazy storytelling.

I was looking for something new to watch today, so I just started Rectify!

I chose Jaime and Brienne, but I kind of want to change my answer to Bel and Freddie, if only in the hopes of the Hour getting some recognition. It is an under-appreciated gem of a show and It's such a shame it wasn't renewed for a 3rd series.

I'm the same. I respect it as an accomplishment, but I don't love it. I had a hard time choosing between Orange is the New Black, Orphan Black, and The Americans.

For questions like that one, Best Show, and Best Performance, I really think we should be allowed to pick a top 5.

uh-oh. downvoted. someone hates civility.

I don't see it. If that joke had a target, I think it was the porn industry.

Hooray! I like Cami now! The scene where she calls Klaus out on his bullshit was great, not just for showing her intelligence and willpower, but for giving her some choice snark:

While I do think this show could do better in it's development of female characters and portrayal of women in general, I don't think it presents us with a madonna/whore dichotomy. It is a more subtle problem than that.

I appreciate that you are able to disagree with the gender critique without mocking those who do see a problem. Civility, what a novel concept!
