I think the fictional element helps create a disconnect to the idea of incest as unpleasant. I find that sibling incest on film particularly is less bothersome to me because it helps further the disconnect in my mind of knowing that the actors are not actually related. They are just two really attractive people

It's stated in the book. I don't think the transport of Stephen's mother and the other slaves to England was part of the triangle trade. I think the idea was more that since Sir William had to sell his plantation, he might as well bring his "property" back to England. In this instance, that property was his slaves.

You are correct in this. ;)

@sallgood_man:disqus is correct. Stephen was born on a slave ship that was on it's way to England from Jamaica. His mother was a slave on Sir William Pole's plantation there. (Sir William is the grandfather of Sir Walter, the only Pole we've been introduced to on the show.) Sir William was rather profligate and when

Stephen doesn't just perceive himself as a free man. He is one, according to English law at the time. Though being a free man of color at that time in England was not necessarily many steps above being a slave.

lol forever at "murderpidget"

haha! That is excellent. And not subtle.

I asked a friend what he thought the fake blood budget might be for this show and he said probably less than the CGI budget for snail sex. Which… maybe?

That's literally the cutest story I have ever heard about Hannibal and food. (Not that the bar was high, but still! Kitties are the best!)

I will always validate fellow Angel fans!

I am more sick of the unseasonable heat. I don't think we even broke 100 last summer. This weekend it's only supposed to be in the 80s and that sounds like a cool-weather miracle to me at this point.

So much ugly crying. So much.

In fairness, there was pretty decent-sized hail happening last night. At least in Durham. But yeah it stormed last week during Hannibal too and I actually had to turn up the tv volume pretty loud just to hear the dialogue over the rain.

Oh Jasmine! You came and you gave without taking!

I roasted some corn in the oven and made a sauce to go with it, but ended up going too heavy on the dill in the sauce and may have to use the rest of it on some fish (which I am hoping will hold up against the dill a little better than the more delicate corn). I had chicken burrito bowl leftovers with the

I didn't ugly-cry during Hannibal! You ugly-cried during Hannibal! I… shut up!

Ugh yes. One of the main reasons I dislike Seth MacFarlane (though I will admit that a few out of every hundred or so of his jokes are actually funny), is that you can always always tell exactly how funny Seth MacFarlane thinks Seth MacFarlane is.

I have family members who went to see Into the Woods without knowing it was a musical and were all pretty upset about it. …I literally cannot fathom either of those things.

oooh iZombie had such a good first season! I'd suggest prioritizing it, but maybe you're super into Jane the Virgin and want to get through that first. You do you!

It is a million degrees outside and I often have to do home visiting for my job. So I would be totally cool with October coming sooner.
