Valid points - the disconnect is certainly there, and hopefully it's intentional on the writers' part and will pay off here in the third act.

This album is probably his most consistent in that it feels like an album and not just a collection of songs. The trade-off is that there isn't really anything that reaches the heights of "A Postcard to Nina," so it might first seem underwhelming, but on the whole it's really affecting and bittersweet.
