The best thing about the show is the acting, I'm lukewarm about the writing.

I get what you're saying, but it's not just what happens it's also how it happens. Yeah, Dontos gets a bolt to the face, but it's not drawn out, he isn't pleading that it stop. The rape scene was like the knife fight from Saving Private Ryan. it was drawn out and gruesome.

I've seen a lot of objections on the AV Club to the use of rape in TV and film. Sometimes they strike me as being overly critical and sensitive. This is not one of those times. This scene made no sense and had no reasoning. WTF?

Completely agree. My favorite parts of the Two Towers were the beginning and the end, which they decided to put in the other movies.
