You're clearly a man after my own heart.

That being said, Mick Jagger was looking ROUGH during those promos.

1. The interplay between scene and movie is a vital one. One scene's content can betray the encompassing movie's intentions. So yes, when I discuss the incongruent scope of the scene, I am speaking in relation to the movie as a whole.

Hey, I'm not the one who called an intentional play on words "symbolism." It was a serious question.

"The rest of the film is funny-ish ideas with absolutely nothing to tie them together."

This scope of this movie does not aspire to anyone "seeing infinity." BJM is all about how self-obsessed these people are. Consequently, we get a scene like that one. This movie concerns itself with insular experiences.

You're kidding, right?

Flagged because you're a damned terrorist supporter and you want to PROFIT off it.

For me, it's just one of those films that "spoke to me," as painful it is to type that. But it's true. I wouldn't ever call it a technical marvel or anything (although I do truly love everything Gondry did in that movie). It gut punches my emotions big time.

I don't know, man. I love the fact that the movie doesn't question their actions. In that sense, it plays into their own romantic fatalism. I also feel like it'd be sort of unnecessary—as you acknowledged, we the viewers already know they're fucked. Why have the movie do that as well?

Well, sure, I think that goes without saying.

Yeah, I totally get that. That's what was astounding to me about Synecdoche. Here was a movie that left me absolutely DEVASTATED, and was seriously one of the most profound experiences I've ever had, and yet that movie was without any likable characters, in the traditional sense. I mean, an argument could be made for

I've never encountered anyone else who'd agree with me that it's possibly the best movie in a very long time. So, kudos for being awesome.

I'm glad you at least acknowledge that it's actually a good movie. Most people use that whole "there's no redeemable characters" argument as a means of criticism, and that always pisses me off. Just pisses me right off.

I know these are dark days when I wholeheartedly agree with Generic Indie Kid.
