Hepburn won her second and third Oscars back-to-back. A five year gap isn't going to be a problem for DDL, who is treated like an acting god.

Her and Chastain, and give SLP's big nomination haul, I think that puts Lawrence clearly ahead for the moment.
Amy Adams may soon have to change her name to "Thelma Ritter".
I'm glad this movie finally came out, because it has easily one of the most obnoxious trailers I can recall. Soon I'll be able to go to the theatre without the screech of "gang war!" over and over again.
This reminds me of 1995, where the directors branch kneecapped every movie that could possibly have beaten Braveheart. It's not quite that obvious here, since I could still see Harvey Weinstein using his Prince of Darkness powers on behalf of Silver Linings Playbook, but Spielberg & co. have a clean shot at the win…
Race Wars: Hillbillies vs. Gangstas.
That would be an "independent polities" war.
While it's been divisively received, I think Tom Hooper's directing choices in Les Miserables are for the most part quite successful.
Guy Gavriel Kay is the only major fantasy author I can think of whose work is heavily standalone (and even he's got a trilogy and a duology in there).
A quivering bowl of Jell-O on the inside, Ryder is clearly crazy from the first frame, so her descent into a slightly more advanced form of madness doesn’t carry much weight.
The bit with Sam sleepwalking and setting fire to the outbuilding was possibly the funniest visual of the year.
My favourite Edwin Edwards moment was when Senator A. J. Ellender died in office, and Edwards appointed his wife as the placeholder — not the late senator's wife, his wife.

No, the film is anti-fracking. The point is how evil the gas company is.

I have the other Dumas books bought, actually, but that's on hold until this summer when I have more time. Though the subsequent books don't have a Richard Pevear translation, which is disappointing.

I really liked Abrams' movie, but my one qualm about its success was wondering whether it would lead to Star Trek becoming primarily a movie thing from now on, which would be wrong, in my opinion. Star Trek really belongs on TV, with all the variety that affords.
