We are the Lars. We are the (incredibly egotistical insecure) children.

Everyone has problems. Everyone. We have different ways of showing it. Lars uses his abrasiveness as a defense mechanism for his deep insecurity. That's just how some people are wired. You don't have to be funny to be relatable.
I am actually entertained a lot by Lars(I see alot of myself in him, I guess), I just don't

Exactly, he's the dingus inside us all. um you know what I mean.

Drip some motor oil on it, and eat it like she ate that burrito in "Bismuth"
Our Amethyst is a class act and I love her.

Tons of recipes on the internet too. Plus it looks like the exact thing you should eat in Steven's Universe.

I think this has been raised a lot, but Lars seems to get a lot of hate for being well too human. Like a lot of the negative aspects seem almost too familiar to the audience, the insecurity in particular. I think flaws like that make some characters much more relatable than others, even if it is uncomfortable.

The deer have giant mechs and tentacle porn.

I sentence you to CAT ISLAND!!
psst don't worry, Cat Island doesn't really exist
cut to later, CATS ATTACK!
It's not an island, its a peninsula.

Night of the Lepus meets Day of the Felis!

Didn't Jerry try to grift his daughter for some money to help lay his bills to a 900 number?

Chess? Trump isn't even a Checkers man. He's barely a Kick the Can man.

Oh Doug has some pride, and is at least likable in a goofy way.

Was this the first time a cartoon parent was actually jealous of his progeny's adventures. Usually its the other way around.

I think a lot of that stems from the whole Joseph Campbell "Hero with a Thousand Faces" framework a lot of speculative fiction leans on. Its expected to for there to be a "Chosen One/Master Plan". And it might seem jarring to some to work against formula. I liked this episode for playing against type here.

Is Bismuth the new Magneto? Or am I completely mixing up my nerd metaphors?

I often wonder if the rebellion was entirely her idea or if she sorta stumbled into leading it. If it was a disaster run amok and she had to take the reins before it got out of control. Well that's one of my batshit theories.

Well considering the bomb that follows(I've seen it, I'm very weak) it does kind of set things up nicely. Also I'm actually amused that Rose can be just as much a forgetful packrat as Amethyst and Greg, especially since everyone considers her Space Rock Jesus. I like humble moments like that.
