Dear White People also has beautiful cinematography. I don't know if I would put it in the "best shows" list but when I watched it, I remember being struck by its visual identity. Not revolutionary but gorgeous. And yes, it's an important show. Thanks for reminding me that I have to check The Carmichael Show.

I'm happy to see Chris Lowell here. Something about him playing a preppy, rich boy from the 80's with a passion for wrestling makes absolute sense. The cast is just really fun to watch.

A sitting president who asked to be interviewed in Maron's garage like everyone else.

I went looking for my very own pair of (re-edited) Reebok Freestyle, after watching this episode. Found them. Put them on. Damn, I'm not sure you can do more 80's than that.

Or "How Se7en paved the way for True Detective season 1." I like that the parody that is season 2 is not mentioned at all because why would it be?

"Her name is Charlotte, you lying fuck !" Well, that felt good for a second.
Also, hell yeah to that The Knife song at the end.

The first few episodes of Studio 60 were not that bad. And I like Bradford and Perry together. It turned into a mess rather quickly though and then of course came the "Tom's brother captured in Afghanistan" storyline and well…
Early on in the show, there was this bit of dialogue about comedy delivery that I still

"They don't know that we know they know we know."

It's "The End of longing."

Marc Silverstein, husband of Busy Philipps, Williams' BFF.

I don't think that's possible. Dohring and Bell chemistry was pure luck and the Logan/Veronica relationship was introduced into the show because of it. When it comes so naturally, it's hard to recreate. Like Bell said a few years ago : "When I watch the show I see it as well. We're on fire."

"Ansari’s script and direction exude confidence." If anything, this season of Master of none showed us Ansari's growth as a writer and director. Yes, Francesca is kind of an exception and I wish she was a more rounded, less cliché character (but then again, maybe that was the point). In the end, it really doesn't

Everything about Cannes this year just felt "meh."
That being said, I would be happy for Pattinson if he won.
I can't wait to see The Meyerowitz Stories but I'm sure it would go home empty-handed. Almodovar will not award a Netflix film. And even if it was part of the official selection, it is just not a Cannes Movie.

Yes. Also Dev, on his way to make Nipplesandtoes23 a chocolate milk, stopping at the kitchen table to chat with Denise's mother and aunt and drink shots. It looks so natural, you get the feeling this is the kind of situations that has happened before. "I'm about to make this grown ass woman some chocolate milk! Fill

Yeah, the diner scene was really great. And it's the best Lena Waithe has ever been.
I especially loved when the mother said "I don't want life to be hard for you". It's a simple, motherly line but it says so much about her feelings. I guess I like the subtlety of this episode.

Absolutely. The scene should have been more straight-forward.

What I absolutely love about this episode is the sense of familiarity, the ever-present warmth behind the family bickering. You can feel the love behind the concerns and the disagreements. It's a hard thing to convey on screen, I think. I like that Dev's presence is a given. He's part of the family while also being a

When Luke got the note at the end, I would have liked to see a shot of the written note rather than hearing June say the words. It lessened the impact of the scene, for me. For once, I didn't really care for June's voiceover.

According to my subtitles, the name of the stew is "Yukgaejang".

But the things you love about the show don't really exist without Ansari co-writing and producing. And that's a pretty big commitment.
