In most cases what happens is mainstream American culture. It's all inundated with the idea that if men go down a certain checklist, wear certain clothes, do certain things, then they will surely get laid. And then it doesn't happen because this is the real world, and some people get twisted and bitter over it.

That is my big problem with lots of gun owners, many of whom are around my age—they don't treat guns like tools. They treat them like fun toys. Very unhealthy attitude to have about firearms.

Start teaching our young men at an early age that women are to be respected as fellow humans, that they are not entitled to the affections of women in any way, that their worth as men isn't predicated on how much sex they have, how much attention they get from the opposite sex, or how macho they are. That'd be a start.

Yes. As someone who grew up around and owns guns this is basically what I would like to happen as well, except also allow double-barreled breach-loading shotguns. Six bullets are, as the man said, more than enough to kill anything that moves and nobody's kitted-out AR-15 is going to save them from the big bad gubmint.
