The songs seemed distractingly didactic/telling you what to think for the first time instead of just true to the period and/or what that character might really be listening to.

Yes, and since irl the actors cast would be younger than the people they were re-enacting, it was particularly jarring to see two well-known often seen very middle-aged actors playing the newlyweds, who of course were even younger than they appear in the narration scenes when the horror happened. It not only

Ryan seems like Joe without the charm combined with Cameron without the style and dedication and Gordon without the love for his kids. He's just drab, self-absorbed, conceited, scornful of and unconcerned with his coworkers & bosses(including Gordon, who tries to mentor him kindly) and vaguely unconvincingly messianic

It would be creepy because of the power imbalance as well as the age difference. ryan is already established as an inarticulate blurter in thrall to & subservient to Joe as well as a truly unattractive character(not saying the actor is unattractive) out for himself, disloyal and somehow desperate and stolid at the

Apt image. Joe is a serial seducer/seductee well aware of his powers. Flaunting it a bit in the wetsuit scene, no?

And/or maybe he wants their approval if not admiration?

Agree, that was a brilliant satire on "born-again" thinking & personal salvation exactly because not one "Christian" voiced any concern for the victim of his hatred, the perpetrator did not recognize any fault in himself, and made no restitution.

Plus there is no development of the ideology plans or personalities of the other Fun society plotters—they all seem glum, without vision, without any respect for each other or ability to discuss rather than insult. They are portrayed more as a selfish criminal gang than an anarchist collective. Romero was only in it

According to her Evil boss, they did it casually, unthinkingly & routinely for profit without any thought of the effects on completely innocent humans of their "business decisions." Evil boss has just set up Angela to agonize over how sending two guilty men to jail will affect their families. The guilty rich

It was shown in the first season, when they weren't hitting viewers over the head with didactic recaps.

Are you saying that you were fine eating while he was being cement boarded until the scene switched to vomit?

Watching these for the first time 3-16, thought it was intentional fun/tongue in cheek, especially with the sleeveless shot added, the static ice creme cone still braking the flow, and the updated mullet closeup at the end.

Hackneyed Robot's cheerful host was positively Martin Shortian, except he wasn't trying to mimic smarmy, condescending, schmoozy, and formulaic—he was wholeheartedly sincerely all those things. The format itself was a painful slap in the audience's face after the visual & auditory complexity of the episode. The host's

Sad but true.

"Stop talking to me" has been a cliche, and one note Quinn is not entertaining anymore. Her tone and rudeness is predictable & not at all clever.

Yes, Pedro was the first officially out beloved gay icon on tv and he was handsome and kind. Real World was the only reality show then and we thought it was real. And he really died. while still young and beautiful.

But remember, only the contestant's responses would be broadcast, stitched together like a monologue and/or taken out of context—-as if she was spontaneously musing to herself, exclaiming in despair "i didn't kill him, but I feel so guilty that I didn't pull over to wait out the storm" or whatever else she might have

Yes, she was pretty good at interacting with those "people in the street" before, and some of them were adorable or at least unexpected. Her comedy pals seem like 50s relics, unironic and unfunny.

Or that her character in the sketch doesn't like being called "fat" or embrace it as her identity and/or that like most actors & many non-actors she doesn't enjoy being accosted and interrupted when the demander has no idea of who she really is or what her work is, but has lumped in two very different individuals

I just started binging this season & reading your reviews. For me the cinematography, directing, costuming & acting are the pleasures of this season so far, but you seem to focus on the plot mechanics, narrative consistency and a Hawkinsian disdain for the fantasy of time travel.
