Yes, Criminal Intent. They even featured Liza Minelli, as the attention seeking stage mother to a murdered pageanty child actress, had her flirt with Goren & gave her meaty scenes to the end including forgiving one of the three other prime suspects. & Bogosian of course was the police captain, giving a pretty similar

Reminded me of one of those generic L&Os where two poor actors go all acting natural in a brief prelude to discovering a hideously mutilated body & then are never seen again. So formulaic!

Another murderous boyfriend whose strings are pulled by her father! Is she really so passionate about convicting her father for abstract justice or her own independence from his machinations in her life/with her lovers?

As if nobody saw the "White Hats" vehicles (as well as the activist's) parked near the mayor's house for the whole cleanup! and yes, once he admitted he was there for the murder, why didn't he call the police/who did he call? when did he leave, etc. etc.

A.V. Club, please pay The Husky Bro to review this show!

You are of course right on with the historical accuracy/local truth angle, but the basic joke about kids taking on roles, whether heroes or "enforcers" works for anyone who followed/emulated Kareem way back when, James Worthy, Kurt Rambis, or Amar'e Stoudemire—tho you are right, Horace Grant had the most & best

I missed any exposition about why she is on the case and how she missed all the procedural errors the defense exploited when she seems to be almost as enmeshed in the village as Ellie! ie. For at least 15 years she's been in love with the editor of the town newspaper who was threatened with rape by a witness.

Especially when Jocelyn is a mean horrible person who goes out of her way to eviscerate a former employee desperate for help to free her incarcerated son, literally adding her insults to the injury of once again not helping with any advice or counsel. And she could have used the semiretired/macular degeneration excuse

That scene was so fresh & audience-serving that it did not seem to have been written by the same writers who wrote most of the show.

But why wouldn't the prosecution have pointed out very likely/probable alternatives within the no evidence Mark did it theory? He was writing a letter to his wife immediately to tell her he was leaving her!!!! The defense does not dispute this but puts it front & center in their "Mark did it" scenario. Why would he

should but won't

but Peter is part & parcel of that machine & expert at using it to his advantage, plus if he's not one step ahead he's brilliant at quick effective reaction to neutralize any surprise. When he told her to just trust the attorney, it was obvious the attorney would betray her.

But why did he act like he didn't know what they wanted in the final scene with Alicia? Why didn't he use her respect for him to try to diplomatically get her to accept the party's decision?

Back in the day of small local non chain video stores & videos being rented & sold in neighborhood convenience & really any kind of neighborhood store, that's where folks went for videos from their country of origin or their special interest. Also VCR tapes were easily copied & generously passed around/traded/swapped

Discover Margaret Cho! in all her incarnations.

Wasn't it Janet YI? Because Janet Leigh, sadly, is.

Spill, please!

Which may have been exactly how he was. In his fashion spread/interviews he still has a similar build to the child actor, though maybe he is bulked up under his very cool but somewhat boxy threads. Understandable that since he wrote a whole well-received memoir, he, like most authors, would have a hard time when other

Loved it too, but what made it subtle?

Which was pretty much true. Margaret didn't get another series until her supporting role in that Lifetime show (around 2010-ish?) & survived through incredible self-promotion & community building with her standup & self-produced films of her standup, which not every Blockbuster would carry—you had to go to the right
