So why did Erik point out the chunk of flaming debris, in the shot when the kid runs back out to the house, as somehow significant and maybe a "clue to their mystery"? Am I dense, is there something significant about that being there? A car just exploded - it's not surprising that there is flaming debris there!

Yes! I'm glad to see someone else notices the Tim Powers similarities. With the Las Vegas setting, it's reminding me a lot of Last Call, my favourite Powers book (all about various gangsters, freaky assassins, mystics, and other weirdos fighting for control of the supernatural energy generated by Las Vegas).

I don't think it's all that clear at all. In fact, the "other gang" you mention seemed to be just some punks driving around the neigbourhood looking for a car to steal, and I'd be surprised if they had anything to do with Dougie. Or are you talking about some third gang?

Yeah, that was a pretty stupid thing to include. Sunday night is an incredibly busy night of TV, and some of us have jobs the next day…it may take a few days for some of us to catch up!

Was Paige's walk to the car set in the same parking lot where she and Elizabeth were attacked? Was it a "I will face my fears" situation? Maybe that's obvious.

My guess is that she is GRU (Russian Military Intelligence), or some other competing Soviet spy agency running its own operation without KGB knowledge.

Well, one of the initial issues with FWWM was Twin Peaks fans going in and thinking it was going to be a continuation of the series, when it most definitely wasn't. It focused on just one aspect of the story, in a prequel format, minimizing or abandoning many important characters and storylines from the show.

The other seasons have had a much higher body count by this point in their run (I believe). I'm actually fine with scaling that back a bit, as it started to get a little unpleasant. Not that I'm squeamish, it just gets tiresome.

Agreed 100%. I've given up on the movies ever being anything more than silly action films (a trend that started well before JJ showed up). I had hoped for a TV series that was a little less stupid. But I'm not getting that sense from Discovery.

Mostly the clunky dialogue and wooden acting. That "my people were bred to sense death" line is simply awful. Also, the effects don't impress me all that much, and they seem to be pushing the JJ-Trek look hard, with all the lens flare and camera angles.

That looks terrible. Honestly, those fan films look better than this, and the acting and dialogue is probably better. I like the lead actress, but nothing else we've seen so far.

It's on CraveTV, which is good for me but I understand is not everyone's favourite platform…

Richard and Gavin working together could be great, but this show has a habit of introducing big shake-ups or story swerves, and then abandoning them right away. I'm thinking of things like PiperChat from this season, which looked like it was going to a company running parallel to PiedPiper for a while, but lasted all

I was feeling bad for Jonah when the other Senators were hazing him, probably because I've been at conferences in other cities and had that "Hey, is everyone else heading out to have fun while leaving me behind?" anxiety as well.

There's a long stretch of season 2 that is bad, but it's bad in a batshit insane way that almost makes it worth watching, at least once. On a recent rewatch I skipped five or six episodes in the latter half of that season, but if it's your first time you should just power through and enjoy the craziness.

For some reason, when Cheryl walked away from the dance all alone and sad, I thought we would next see her on the roof of the school threatening to jump, or something like that.

Great episode as usual. But why did Nora feel the need to break her wrist? At that point she had already covered over the names with another tattoo, and that tattoo is still there. Maybe she just wanted to forget the whole tattoo mistake for a while, or avoid questions for a few weeks, but the "Wu Tang Band" symbol is

It's very depressing that, after years of attacks on feminism, some people (both men and women) are utterly terrified of that word, and run away from it all full speed, even if what they are doing/saying/performing has a strong feminist message. It's sort of like how the word "liberal" was similarly poisoned, to the

Actually, Chiwetel would be my choice for a black James Bond (if they decided to race-switch in that franchise) rather than Dr. Who.

Nostalgia (and subsequent revival) can work for TV and movies, but it's a real crap shoot as to whether or not they get it right.
