That's a pretty good list!

I'm a book reader, and as a result enjoy discussing how they are being adapted for TV. But is this the place to do it? Yes, you put "Book Spoiler" in bold, but it would be incredibly easy for a non-book reader, scrolling up and down the comments as they read and discuss this episode, to run across a major spoiler,

Another great episode!

It's hilarious to see the Trump-right latch onto keywords and phrases like "virtue signalling" and "snowflake", and throw them around like they have just won some sort of argument. You notice how they never actually address any points raised against them or their sex-criminal-in-chief, they just toss their smug

"I mean, she wasn't just jabbing at Mao, she was purposefully cornering Errinwright into a bad position."

I loved the whole sequence of the Navuoo leaving Tycho station. They took their time showing the immensity of this ship, both in terms of its shear size, and in terms of the decision to take it from the Mormons.

Thanks AV Club for covering this show again!

Too bad they could not find a reviewer who was interested in the show. I noticed that The Expanse was completely shut out of their Best of TV 2016 list, not even getting an honourable mention.

Especially since it was a fantastic opening to the season…

That sucks. Especially since they have time to review a dozen other shows that are far inferior. How much can someone write about something like Legends of Tomorrow?

It's ridiculous. This is arguably the best sci-fi show on TV right now.

Well, we can have both… Though I can say as a dedicated Trekkie from way back, I am much more excited about The Expanse than Discovery, at least right now…

Losing Fuller was a blow for this show. I've seen some people saying "At least they are still using Fuller's ideas and plans", but that actually makes me even more worried. When you lose a show creator (and planned show-runner), having a bunch of other people try to execute the ideas of someone else sounds like a

I was honestly shocked that I had to go so far down in this comment section to see someone bring up The Expanse…not to mention that it did not appear on the AV Club list at all. Like you say, CQB was great (and when the show really took off). Maybe they are doing a separate "best individual episodes" list and it will

So now we know that they can make robots that are indistinguishable from humans, and that also think they are human. One thing we don't know is if they can replace real humans with perfect robot copies. If Bernard was a real person at one point in time, then the answer is yes. But at this point, for all we know

So excited for this I am almost speechless. Twin Peaks is easily one of
my favourite shows ever, the haunting mystery of it works perfectly, at
least for the first season.

And there are even more examples from 2016: The Man From UNCLE was a better Bond film, at least a period-piece Bond, and even Spy with Melissa McCarthy was a more fun movie (not a better Bond film, but a better cinematic experience).

This is definitely one of my favourite movies. If Alien is perhaps the quintessential sci-fi/horror film, Aliens is arguably the quintessential sci-fi/action film.

Actually, it reminded me a little of the video game Portal 2 where you go deep underground to the earlier, unused parts of the facility. Just waiting for Cave Johnson to show up…

She was quite intriguing, I love her character. I went to IMDB as soon as the show ended to see if I knew her from something else.
