I dismissed Donald being September, because I thought they had shown him talking in the video in which he and Walter stash Michael in the pocket universe. The voice sounded nothing like Michael Cerveris. Was I mistaken?

They are incredibly short-sighted comparisons. I guarantee that you will find similar plotlines in many stories with an adventure element to it.

Back when I watched the pilot, all I had to go on were the small preview clips for Fringe which seemed silly, especially Walter. I wasn't sold on him right away, but needless to say he is my favorite character on Fringe these days and ranks highly among all-time favorites.
