I never realized how strong and absorbent Jesus was! Forget the loaves and fishes…cleaning up a quart of spilled juice with one sheet? Now that's a miracle!

There's no way to get to the bottom of this until Satan releases his original, long-form birth certificate.

Bill Murray had a little moment at the end of "Scrooged" where his character, Frank Cross, breaks the 4th wall of the live TV show they're airing, as part of the film's plot - then Bill Murray the actor breaks that 4th wall with the film audience, asking them to sing along with the music as the credits start to roll.

Technically they're not drinking songs, but I've noticed that people sing a lot of Neil Diamond stuff when they're in that happy-drunk zone. It's ridiculous how many times I've heard someone in the group of people I'm with start up a round of Song Sung Blue or Sweet Caroline. I truly do associate his music with booze

This thread FTW! Will Ferrell as Trebek is one of the greatest things ever to happen on my TV screen.

They're really in their element and at their best in front of a crowd. Guy Garvey's a very engaging frontman, and they open their sound up quite a lot on stage. But I think their songwriting's generally very good so I enjoy the albums too.

I have been a fan of Elbow since their 1st album was released in 2001, but never thought I'd get to see them live because they're not too big here in the States. My first chance to see them was in '08, and I had to fly to Chicago to do it, but it was worth the effort/expense because I thought it may be the only time

That's a great song to have heard them do, and you are cool for knowing it. Of course, I am also kinda sad (I still have the cassette of that Golden Palominos album somewhere), so my stamp of approval might not be worth much.

One of my favorite covers ever, and I wish I'd seen it live myself. I imagine it must be epic.

I saw the Who in 1982, on what was their original farewell tour.

Seconded. I have seen a few different incarnations of Ringo's band now, and each time I'm really pleased and impressed with what they do. My daughter idolizes Ringo (she wants to play drums, y'see) so we end up going to his shows whenever we can, and I always have a great time.

The biggest surprise moment I have ever had at a U2 concert was in 1983 (War tour) when Bono surfed the crowd and I ended up getting a big handful of his ass. Not even intentionally, that's just how it all landed when he got to me in the 6th row. I'm a chick and I'm straight and all, but I have to say I was a little

Tom Traubert's Blues? Damn. I. Would. Have. DIED.

Snark has always existed in the world of culture and entertainment (Dorothy Parker? Rex Reed?). It's just that those who made careers out of it were far fewer back in the pre-internet days. The ubiquitous nature of modern snark is what has made it so toxic, since it's everywhere now and anyone can do it, regardless of

See, Calvin and Hobbes was just this perfect, unimpeachable thing. And that's how it should probably remain. Adding more personalities/perspectives to this universe is not necessary. The beauty of C&H was the organic nature of it. Now you want to come along and artificially engineer that wonder and whimsy - even with

He was a bit player in a Steve Martin TV special way back when, as well. And sweet Jeebus, it was full of '70's suckishness….

Definitely. Took out the hardcover from the library last year, and bought it as soon as I found it in paperback.

I don't know why, but Steve Burns' association with the Flaming Lips made me unreasonably happy. When I saw that he was in their Christmas on Mars movie, I was delighted. You gotta be a very special type of human to participate in a project like that.

Bad network. Bad, bad network! Do you see the mess you've left on the screen here? Do you?? *rubs TV programming exec's nose in an episode of Whitney*

What a ridiculous thing to suggest at a meeting about serious governmental issues. I'm surprised the other participants didn't just wok out after that.
