I'm still putting my money on Gates.  She's the only only one who seems to have the time to plan out ritualistic murders.

I actually wasn't bothered by the overall tone of the episode, since most of the scenes showed the main characters looking out for one another without letting it get too melodramatic. Occasionally, it's refreshing to put Castle in a little peril so Beckett can save him from himself or outside entities.

Yeah the energy & warmth in this episode does harken back to season 3.  Apparently in the next episode, Castle is going to get arrested again…so it should be an interesting take on the character relationships.

In this episode it was particularly evident how much Beckett has relaxed this season.  I was anticipating her fury at being arrested while on vacation…but the writers thankfully didn't go down that road at all.  
I've always liked Stana Katic's reaction faces, and her expressions during Castle's phone conversations…
