Dead Can Dance
I know I can't be the only one, but I really love Dead Can Dance, especially their 1990 album Aion. That album's sound is so distant and far away, and it captures a time and place far removed from today. My girlfriend doesn't really like the album, and I'm afraid to play it for the rest of my friends.

Junge Amick, I'll give you that At War with the Mystics wasn't that great. There were a few good songs on there, and I think Pompeii Am Gotterdammerung is one of their best songs, but overall I agree; it's kind of dull. However, Their most recent album Embryonic is awesome. They move away almost completely from

aww shucks
we couldn't stay mad at you guys! c'mere!

Well…they are a music group, and this site reviews music, and apparently this record sucks, so there you go. What exactly do you want?

she needs to bring the funny. if there's one thing us AV Club users like, it's the funny.

John Martyn
The first thing that comes to mind isn't so much a fight as it is blind ignorance, but my friend showed me a Jack Johnson song the other day, and I told her that if she liked him, she should check out John Martyn. In reality, I just wanted any excuse I could to introduce her to Martyn's music, and Johnson

yeah…nobody cares.

Great story, Evel. Good luck!

This is going to sound cliche, and I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but Pet Sounds is probably the record that most affects me. It plays like a conversation between me and my girlfriend as we've gone through the ups and downs of our relationship.

I thought Ponyo was awesome, but it could have been the LSD

The self-titled record was produced by Ross Robinson, the big name nu-metal producer back in the day. I remember it causing somewhat of a controversy among Cure fans. Simon Gallup also publicly voiced his disapproval of Robinson and called him a cunt.

No, not really.

Wish could have been better if some songs were taken out and replaced with some of the b-sides and instrumentals of the era. "This Twilight Garden" comes to mind as a great Cure b-side (and the Cure have a great number of great b-sides) that could have replaced something like "Wendy Time" or something lesser off Wish.

TEST YOUR MIGHT

This was
the first album of theirs I ever bought. Can't wait to pick this up tomorrow

Meanwhile, a nation asks itself
"Are we getting dumber?"

fucking brilliant, and that's not just the LSD talking

I CANNOT FUCKING STAND MICHAEL FELDMAN.
The guy is a dick in the worst way. I feel like he's just an uninterested asshole to his guests, but he's allowed to make all the jokes and get all the laughs. Does anyone else get this vibe from him?
