Who IS dead!
Who IS dead!
Which makes no sense whatsoever. Garcia was beloved by his bandmates, both in the Dead and the various incarnations of the Jerry Garcia Band. He treated his bandmates really well.
*spits*
Chicago's first TWO albums are pretty goddamned great. Terry Kath was guitar beast.
Rodgers seems like a decent guy, but just a mediocre, journeyman rocker at best. A few decent songs, but nothing special, and he sort of outlived his usefulness (such as it was) once the 70s ended.
Don't leave Born to Run off that list. That album is unimpeachable. As is Darkness.
It's a more laid-back album, but Wildflowers is my favorite (with Damn the Torpedoes right behind it).
Petty always delivers a good show. Even though you can expect the hits, you can also expect a few "deep cuts," and he's always good for a fun, unexpected cover. Maybe several fun covers.
Get to the point. Let's roll another joint.
I more or less agree. I really loved that Seeger Sessions album though. It's telling that they're not his songs, and that he worked with a different (really wonderful) band for that album and tour. I wish he'd worked with them again, maybe exploring more Americana/folk gems or writing some new songs in that vein. Not…
I didn't say it did. Not an easy band to categorize, no, but "rock" is certainly one part of what they are. I don't really give a shit about putting labels on bands.
Have you see them live? Yeah, they can, and do, fucking rock.
Eh… Elvis had youth, sex appeal, and (let's face it) he was white. He had those things going for him, and one helluva voice. So, sure, he was highly influential as a vocalist and performer. No question.
Yes?
AM radio — playing the likes of Sonny & Cher, The Monkees (No knock on them, I loves me some Monkees), The Association, etc. — wasn't about to embrace "Hey Joe," "Purple Haze" and the like, at that time. Jimi was on a different planet, or maybe plane of existence, entirely.
It leaves a few key songs off, "Promised Land" and "You Never Can Tell" in particular, but, yeah, great collection. One of the earliest CDs I ever bought!
Because it rhymes with Rockin'?
Done, and I mean DONE!
Yeah… Given that Maybelline was from 1955, I gotta think "60 years" was meant. That would make it a true statement.
Great tune, even if the lyrics are pretty outdated.
