If the soundtrack was replaced with a Kesha song and there was just a bit more of Moretz doing her bit-lip nerd girl act, this would be a trailer for a Friedberg/Seltzer "parody"

Absolutely. This piece struck the perfect note. Just like Ebert's reviews, there is a seriousness to it all that yet never overwhelms the incredible love and enjoyment of its subject.
I'm actually kind of glad to hear that, cause it was often funny to me, even when I was listening to it as an angsty teen. Incidentally, I realized last week that my favorite track is The Show Must Go On. Sure, it's basically just an interstitial between Comfortably Numb and In the Flesh (I know, I know, on the album…
Damn, yo. This breakup better have been sorta mutual!
Up 2: The Adventures of Kevin and Dug
I'd say that right there is what TBS didn't count on when they hired him. A lot of good will going his way, but of course that doesn't translate into viewers. I catch his show when I can and usually enjoy it, but if I'm watching late night TV it's probably going to be Colbert just about every time.
Of the top ten captions right now, definitely my favorite.
@avclub-07083a9024530b20bdd9ef8b38fc6e79:disqus Thanks for the strong recommendation and suggested approach to viewing. I just finished The Wire in February (my sister gave me the first season for Christmas, so yeah, I watched it very fast!) and damn if it didn't break my heart a thousand times. So I'm not ready to…
I'm glad I'm not the only one! And you're right about The Wire; I even have to mute my TV before I put the DVDs in because I cannot STAND hearing the same fifteen seconds or so (or two seconds, depending on how quickly I get get an episode playing) of each season's theme played over and over and over on the menu…
I thought their first attempt to sell out, Because of the Times, had some solid songs. I love "Fans." It's funny that when that album came out, they kept saying in interviews that the title was a reference to the watering down they thought they'd done in an attempt to reach a wider audience. Little did they know how…
Huh, am I the only one who mutes TV show themes? This one especially gets under my skin, but that might be because I've only binge watched the series. I so appreciate Breaking Bad and The Wire for not really having an opening theme and changing the theme every season, respectively.
I couldn't bring myself to read the stuff about S3 : (
Damn, I'd forgotten! Fingers crossed for a Cooper-centric episode this season.
I've never seen Bert Cooper look so uncomfortable/lecherous. Somebody must have made him put on his shoes.
That line about being tired of being alone hit me hard too. Not in that I've been there (still can't get enough of being alone sometimes!) but the rawness of a character admitting that and just sort of chuckling at his own soul being laid bare… damn.
Aight. Do you know the fan theories? VAGUE SPOILERS I'm not saying they'll be satisfyingly rendered, but it's still a good story. (GRRM has basically admitted that fans figured out some of his big reveals, so it will not come as a surprise to most. This is probably also one of the reasons why the series has stretched…
"Game of Thrones perfectly capture[s] our desire to see unending narratives…"
No, you are not! Love that record. So grateful for that reissue.
So is that what we're getting instead of the Caption Contest now?
Absolutely. In spite of (or, depending on taste, because of) the fact that it is country and stripped-down rock it might be my favorite "concept" album ever.
