I agree with you that it's probably the lack of a central square. I have no idea where all the buildings are in relation to one another. Knowing and seeing the layout of the town contributes to feelings of authenticity.

Maybe, it just seemed more likely to me that they would call and pull her away rather than utterly trashing the guy. The intention of it was a nice display of friendship, but the execution was too severe.

I'm using the definition of "personally" that means "in person." I have actually been to these theaters rather than knowing of them secondhand.
