When the hell is Ted Leo going to come out with a new album? You owe me, world (and Ted Leo, specifically).

You are correct, sir!

If Dan Harmon were still the show runner, then all those complaining about how broad the Germans were would be instead talking about how the German characters were a commentary on broad German stereotypes.  You see, everyone, it's ironic!

This is a pretty good critique.  I wonder if the show would have been more engaging if it had actually taken place a decade ago.  If all the events occurred during the early aughts, it might be more compelling.

“Zoe Barnes. Twitter. Blogs. Enriched media. They’re all surface. They
are fads. They aren’t the foundation upon which this paper was built
on.”

I think that's basically the second law of thermodynamics.

To each their own, and all.  The problem here is that it seems tonally bizarre watching this frumpy couple try to reinvigorate their deflated marriage through sexual experimentation, especially when that younger model is conflated with an actual commodity.  There's just so many strange levels to that commercial.

I used to feel bad about "washed up" actors.  But then I realize that for many of them it's just a job.  And you're right.  Slater at least gets work, and he is far more successful than 99% of the actors out there.  It's just that he is compared to the top .01% of those in his profession.  I can't feel too bad for

The DirectTV Genie ad with the married couple is somewhat creepy.  I think it's the fact that this married couple is discussing bringing this Genie into their home and that product is personified by a young, attractive model.  It feels like I'm secretly listening into the couple's plans for a threesome with a younger

I was recently talking to someone who had apparently seen Lotus live over a dozen times.  I decided to check out their music, and it's really enjoyable, but I didn't quite understand how this band managed to get undying loyalty from their fans.

I hate it when critics lean on the term "relevancy."  Too often it means that the band/musical genre isn't in style now.  For me, however, a band is relevant if they're still putting out good music, regardless of whether it's in vogue.  In that sense, Soundgarden are still relevant because they just released a really

The new album is surprisingly good.  Unlike the other bands listed up there (Alice in Chains, Korn, etc.), Soundgarden are actually putting out great music.  I didn't have high hopes for this reunion, but after a few spins the new album completely won me over.

I did enjoy reporters freaking out about Nate Silver's ability to predict election results using newfangled technology like statistics and polling.  I'm reminded of Peggy Noonan's anti-polling column that came out shortly before the election, and it never ceases to amuse me:

Ah, yes.  Thank you for reminding me.  And I think you also explained why ghost aliens never really got their day in the sun.  I blame it all on later day John Carpenter.

Does the premise of this film make anyone else nostalgic for the Stephen Spielberg produced adventure game, The Dig?  I know that the aliens in Dark Skies aren't supposed to be ghosts, but they appear to treat them interchangeably.  And The Dig was the first piece of entertainment that opened up the possibility of

Yeah, really.  Fuck this reviewer for reviewing this television show.

I generally agree with this review's assessment of quality, but not its reasoning.  I like the idea that Frank is mercurial and that you can't pin him down.  Everyone now and then they throw in a humanizing element, but they have largely kept Frank's inner life a mystery.  Instead the audience gets to sit back and

I agree.  Having Frank a gamer is unexpected, but it also makes sense.  I mean, senators have to relax every now and again, but even in his down time Frank likes to eviscerate people.

You're welcome.

And now I have the Fall Guy theme song stuck in my head. Thanks, AVClub.
