[This gets a little spoilery]  The one thing I've always wondered about Jake and the Dabo girl is didn't the Federation have statutory rape laws in the future?  If I'm not mistaken, Jake is a minor and the Dabo girl is well into her twenties.  I also wonder if the show would have gotten away with this if the genders

I think the fact that you could tune in to The Next Generation at any given point and know exactly what was going on, made it much easier for the uninitiated.  It also made it an easier show for people to catch up on in reruns.  The fact that DS9 started to implement long story arcs probably hurt it with the non-Trek

I don't particularly care about actors or musicians who are assholes, so long as they put out great work.  Unfortunately, Albarn has never been a particularly great musician.  I know plenty have written his hagiography at this point, but I've always felt like Blur was an incredibly overrated band.  I mean, look their

Owen Wilson playing the Norwegian Fjords.  I don't know.  With that nose, he's much more suited for the Leaning Tower of Pisa.  [rimshot]

I don't know.  There's Spike Lee, John Singleton, the Hughes Brothers, Mario Van Pebles, and that girl who directed Pariah.  And that's just off the top of my head.  It seems to me that there are other voices in black cinema, but Tyler just happens to be incredibly popular at this moment in time.

I tend to remember the Prisoner finale fondly, but I still can't stand the Lost finale.  I sometimes wonder why this is.  Neither finale gives the viewer the kinds of answers that he or she wants.  I found this frustrating with Lost but admirable with the Prisoner.  Maybe the difference is that with the Prisoner, they

The lava monster threat has been widely under reported.  When  will the world wake up?

Holy shit!  I didn't even know it had opened overseas.  What an insidious motherfucker.  I don't think the average person knows what kind of a threat the movie Battleship poses.

Ahmedinejad has got to be pissing himself right now.  Watch out, or Peter Berg will Battleship you, motherfucker! (By which I mean he will spend hundreds of millions on a movie based on a board game that will likely flop).

The more I listened to the first album, the more I disliked it.  There are two or three enjoyable songs, but the rest is pretty bad.  What bothered me most about the album was the constant co-dependent whining that Cosantino indulges in.  If you're a girl, then I cannot see how you wouldn't find this portrayal of

Oh, we're supposed to hate Burton now.  I will update my personal tastes accordingly.  Thanks internet!

I agree.  It would have been difficult to have Wallace show up, explain that he has now made a fortune and then have Andy pitch him his idea of a takeover.  Without some foreshadowing this scene would have been a big exposition dump.  Criticizing the cameo is just dumb.  Even if you saw Wallace's return, it's still

It was my understanding that no one was privy as to why the Binghamton branch was shut down.  This would drastically change the review's analysis.  Instead of seeing the groups compliance as an act of moral failing, it means that they are merely one cog in a much larger corporate culture.  It's not like any of them

I've had the same experience.  I love the White Stripes, but whenever Jack White collaborates with others, it just seems to fall apart.  Maybe I haven't given his other bands enough of a chance, but I'm fairly certain that they're just not as good as the stuff he and Meg White put out.  I'm still interested in this

With Spike Lee directing I'm not sure this is going to be a good remake, but it sure as hell will be an interesting remake.

This is…surprisingly listenable.  The descriptions I've read of this album have made me skeptical of this album, but now I'll try to keep an open mind.
