Watching this movie when I was older it was clear that the "nerd" epithet stood in for blacks, asians, and gays as well. Constantly, the TriLams are referred to as "them" or "their kind". The movie even opens with Ogre murdering a nerd in front of the entire campus! This movie was an indictment of intolerance wrapped

I wish the Books list was as thorough as their Music list. I discovered Saunders here on the AVClub in a past "Best of…" list.

When I first cracked this open on the bus I didn't look back up until I was about a mile past my stop. The rest of the book is an enjoyable read as well :)

That cheap caricature skater friend "Don't leave me hangin bro!" is particularly grating. This is some lazy shit.
