He lifted Be Cool from forgettable to barely memorable, which was a (no pun intended) Herculean effort.

He'd make a weird Francis Dolarhyde.

The most important thing I think is that he finally is getting a franchise of his own. It's nice to see him in these big movies but they're almost all second-hand stuff.

From what I've heard the KAOS tour sounded pretty neat. Did Roger take any calls during your show?

I think a lot of those people purporting that meme never listened or probably never even heard of those records.

Could not disagree more. The best solo album from any member of the band by a wide margin (Amused to Death is a distant 2nd).

Is there such a thing as a "happy-fun-times" Pink Floyd album?

I agree. A lot of that is probably because of their insistence on using their backing band as opposed to doing all or most of it themselves. I can understand using Guy Pratt on bass because he's quite good and developed enough of a working relationship to take that spot, but when other keyboardists and guitarists come

Those first two points obliterate any argument about the third. And actually he didn't write as many lyrics as some might think. One song which is solely credited to him from The Division Bell, "Coming Back To Life", is a great song with good (but not profound like Waters') lyrics.

I feel you there. I saw Roger that year, and the only show in the Midwest David did was going to be in Chicago which I figured probably would have sold out very quickly.

Basically it suffers from a lot of 80's production techniques that didn't survive by the time they did The Division Bell, which if it was released now it wouldn't sound dated. It's oddly enough the same dichotomy between Radio KAOS and Amused To Death.

Agreed, but Amused To Death is as good as anything Roger's ever done in the band.

A Momentary Lapse of Reason is pretty outdated but the material stands on it's own more than it should have. The Division Bell is much much closer to classic Floyd.

Me too, mostly because there's not a whole lot in terms of unheard Pink Floyd songs. If there is anything it's usually the germ of something that would be recorded years later (like the Zabriskie Point piano demo of "Us And Them").

Oddly enough my reaction has been more reserved. I think I'll be feeling something closer to this once I actually listen to it.

I've read that there was a leak to one of the UK papers about it, which prompted this premature news.

I love it too. For the longest time I pretended to be cool and slag it off a little but I can't. And I'm really tired of people saying Pink Floyd was Gilmour/Waters and nothing else. Rick Wright was a major part of their sound and I'm mostly happy that there is new material coming with his stamp on it.

The band has released an official statement on their official website and Facebook today.

And it made the IMDB page look like Netscape for a day

So…today is the actual day I'm getting my cable TV cut and switching services, again wish me luck. Please.
