It doesn't help that she was surrounded by such an incredibly versatile cast, which only made her (and Penikett) look worse by comparison.

Dewey Crowe can never die. He's a miracle of science!

Krycek was my first thought when I read this title. It was worth keeping him around just to watch everyone beat up on him every time he appeared. I think even Scully kicked his ass at one point. THE VAGUEST OF SPOILERS: Krycek's end in season 8 was a definite highlight of that season.

I was surprised how quickly I went from thinking "Yay, now Hank and Marie can adopt Jesse" to "No! Get out of there Jesse, he's just using you!" But I still find Hank's perspective understandable. Gomie can be more objective because Walt isn't his relative who lied to him for months and is now threatening his entire

Have you seen Friday Night Lights? If so, this is another Jason Katims show and it hits a lot of the same emotional beats and has similar character resonance. Funny and sad and heartwarming. It's a great show.

Hold on tightly, let go lightly. Great movie.

This is really helpful because I've heard enough about the show to know Sawyer ends up a popular character, but so far he's just been the worst. Antagonistic toward everyone to a ridiculous degree, and not helpful in any way. Plus, the acting is so, so bad. The idea that his character becomes at all worthwhile makes

Please help me, AV Club. I'd never seen Lost and finally decided to give it a try since it's been staring at me from my Netflix instant queue for ages. I watched 4 or 5 episodes, but I'm having Walking Dead levels of wishing every character would get eaten by zombies. Or polar bears. Or anything. The only character I

I'm so jealous. It doesn't open where I am until next weekend. But I did rewatch Before Sunrise and Before Sunset in anticipation.

I'm late to this party, but very much agree with your comments. I hated the first 15 minutes or so, partly because of the frenetic pacing (even though I loved the same in Moulin Rouge) and partly because I forgot how much Maguire ruins everything he is in for me. I'm just not a fan, so all the endless narration was

I genuinely like all the kids, and that is not something I can say about a lot of sitcoms. I get so tired of kids on TV being precocious and bratty (see Lily on Modern Family). There are other types of kids in life and I love that this show recognizes that. Plus, the actors playing all of them are great.

I had the same thought when Novak said that. I really miss the days when these were realistic characters (with just Michael over the top) and entire episodes could be centered around things like choosing benefits. The show was at its best when it highlighted how mundane but ridiculous an actual office setting can be.

I never expected to love a new episode of the Office again, but damn, did I enjoy this one (as well as last week's.) Michael's return was perfect, from the moment he showed up to that bit about him needing 2 phones for all the pictures of his kids. And Devon was actually my favorite callback.

I just caught up on Parenthood so this news makes me insanely happy.

I felt exactly the same way about FNL. And this probably sounds ridiculous, but I still haven't watched the final 2 episodes for just that reason. FNL is the only show I've ever had that reaction to, where I couldn't bring myself to say goodbye to the characters. Eventually I'll do a re-watch of the series and finish

You can do a 30 day free trial of Prime to see if you like it. I don't order much online, but I have used the free trial to marathon the occasional Justified or Bunheads, or right before Christmas when I need last minute gifts.

I think I was ruined by all the hype surrounding Bridesmaids after repeatedly hearing from my female friends that it was the funniest movie ever made. When I finally watched it, I didn't find it all that funny. Maybe I was just expecting too much. And I thought the main character was kind of a shitty friend. It's sad

I watched the first few episodes of Go On, then stopped. But I tuned in last week for the Courtney Cox episode. It was pretty terrible, and disappointing since I thought this show had some potential early on. With the exception of Julie White's, most of the characters are still annoying.

I just got around to reading In the Woods and The Likeness last month and I'm definitely a fan of French's writing. I preferred In the Woods a little more because of its bleak ending, which I thought was excellent even though it frustrated other people I know who read it. I look forward to reading her other books in

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I was just saying that I very much agreed with your show comparisons about the themes and storytelling, but my preference is for BB/The Wire. And I find that a lot of people I talk to who love the Wire also love BB, or who love Sopranos also love MM. Clearly they are all great shows and we are
