@WelcomeShaqKotter:disqus Mr. Doppelgangirl also doesn't understand why I'm not hot for Hamm, although I do think he's awesome as a person/actor. Many of my female friends feel the same way. It's like he's so handsome that I wouldn't want to mess him up by touching him.

@avclub-ea93d61158b479315c8e0d4cd003ec35:disqus E.B.E would be a good choice for a self-contained episode, and one that nicely captures the show's sense of paranoia (as well as introduces the gunmen).

I do love Monday and Arcadia and would put them high on my list of favorites this season. I'm lukewarm on Milagro though.

It does feel weird to be talking about a Christmas episode in the heat of summer, but if I had to choose, I would pick Ghosts as my favorite episode of the season. I love the twist on the standard haunted house scenario, the riff on pop psychology, and the great acting. Impressive for an episode with only four

I recently saw MA at a book event and can't say enough good things about her laid-back attitude and dry wit. She is definitely the coolest.

Breaking Bad just narrowly beats out The Wire for me. I like to say The Wire is objectively the best show of all time while BB is my favorite show of all time.

I'm also really curious to see what Todd comes up with for a list of cornerstone episodes that doesn't end up reading just like a "favorite episodes" list, except for maybe the pilot (which was a solid pilot, as pilots go). The mythology episodes felt so essential in the early seasons, that I'd find it hard just

Agreed. And although she is a different kind of character, this is the reason I love Leslie Knope so much.

Thanks for clarifying the terms. You are right—there aren't exact parameters of the genres. I'm just speaking here of Atwood, who didn't invent the phrase "speculative fiction," but uses it solely to define fiction dealing with things that could actually happen in our lifetime on our planet, based on current
