When I saw that title "Since You've Been Gone" I immediately thought of the Weird Al song.

sorry, still getting over Valentines Day, again
I feel you, @avclub-43a2348027cdb8d216f4fb15fd9e1e4f:disqus. In high school there was a girl [etc., lame story deleted]. So nothing ever happened.

I've never heard the song Party in the CIA was a parody of, and didn't even know what it was, or who by, until now. Now I can consciously avoid it.
Lasties: I graduated high school in the suburbs in 1982. This song was perfectly timed for me.
or quantum indeterminacy to a half-dead, half-alive cat?
The Colbert SuperPAC (Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow) is possibly the most brilliant bit of agit-prop, ever.
@avclub-230e46d19fe78a6c8dc715659a7188d7:disqus "Fox News-Flavored Product" - copyright?
Also, while Colbert is an outstanding parody of the Product, his shtick is less dependent on it than Jon Stewart's. His character can turn just about any situation into comedy gold.
"Everything is possible at The A.V. Club!"
Maybe, but I'm pretty sure my odds are no better here than anywhere else (= 0:0)
Many years ago, a non-drug-using friend of my mom from shul got flagged for opiates when he applied for a job that required a piss test. It was shortly after Purim. Hamantashen.
I think it was meant to simulate the mental distress he was in, from having those issues brought up.
Weird scene, but another example of why Cheadle is such a good actor: the several changes in facial expression he goes through at the end, after the kids come in and end the "crisis".
Yes: "the performances of the leads (Kristen Bell and Don Cheadle) masks a lot of the flaws in the truly horrible material". Those two actors' ability to deliver even horrible material well is the only reason I'm watching this at all.
My favorite part of this episode (which isn't saying much) was the beat at the beginning on the airplane, where Marty bounces a quarter off Kristen Bell's butt while she's in freeze-frame, and when she un-freezes she puts her hand on the spot.
You're a dedicated viewer & eager commenter. I just watch it twice (along with the Showtime trio) on Sunday night, retire for the night, then come to the boards in the a.m. By which time the discussion is basically over and I'm posting lasties for no one to read.
Thanks @avclub-b3d29f8f22c60a4b2c5fc2b1691c1d62:disqus for saying what I wanted to, but better. He's the sort of guy who really cares, above all else, about doing right by the people and animals in his life. And he's had those good intentions lead where the road they're paved with so often does, with Delphi (though…
My sister-in-law adopted a retired greyhound who wound up living to be 15 or so. When she (the greyhound) died, I had mixed feelings - I was sad that such a nice, kind, friendly animal was gone … but finally I could visit my brother without the allergies fucking me up.
And I thought they smelled bad … on the outside!
Mine's still called Adblock Plus. The free plug-in for Firefox.
At the Demo Con 2000 in LA (which gave us Gore/Lieberman), the Steelworkers Union were protesting Wells Fargo's bankrolling of union-busting [long story]; they had a replica of their stagecoach in their march. PETA got up in their face because they were "enslaving" the horse.
