The Runkel-Mary scene was so heartbreakingly sad to me. Maybe I identify with the characters too much.

the preview looked promising
I was under the impression that, when they were officially "together" as an exclusive couple, he was loyally monogamous with her. It's just that by the time the show started, they had already split up and she was engaged to the "dial tone" guy, so there was no reason for him -not- to californicate [sorry].
Agree. Also disagree with the notion that his having always been up-front about who he was and what he was about, does not excuse him being who, and about what, he is. Sure, he's damaged goods, but she (and Karen and everyone else) has no one to blame but herself for getting involved with him.
I always like when my beloved San Francisco makes an appearance. Too bad they didn't really show any of it (except the coffee shop, which looked vaguely familiar). OTOH if they paid more attention to the City they'd have likely done something off-putting, like mess with the geography so I guess it's ok.
Yes: “But don’t say Frisco; only losers say Frisco.”
There's a food truck in my San Francisco neighborhood selling $3 fresh-baked organic cookies. I had one. It was a good cookie but I don't think it was worth $3.

This is the sort of pedantry up with which I will not put.
Which do you associate Ride of the Valkyries with more, Apocalypse Now!, or What's Opera, Doc? Does the fact that one exists, ruin the other? and could you ever imagine watching the Wagner opera and not envision either helicopters assaulting a village, or Elmer Fudd in a horned helmet singing "Kill the Wabbit!"? (or…

Hence the "S1 / E1" designation
We're closer to legalizing cannabis than we've ever been since it was originally prohibited, and I'm including the '70s. If everyone who smokes pot, ever smoked pot, or knows someone who smokes/smoked pot and doesn't want them put in jail, would join NORML and/or the Marijuana Policy Project (MPP) or whichever other…
I haven't seen it, but the association of Scrooge with Thurston Howell III sounds right.
damn, I was looking forward to it, Don Cheadle as a Wall Street con man conning Wall Street con men … damn
Use your head. That's that lump three feet above your ass. Hey, there's no crying in baseball!
Ken Jennings (in Slate): "Watson has lots in common with a top-ranked human Jeopardy! player: It's very smart, very fast, speaks in an uneven monotone, and has never known the touch of a woman."
