agreed that it's a failing to not watch the film in a single sitting; however, i was drifting out of consciousness on thursday night. i knew i didn't want to file this film under "seen it", but would prefer to file it under "experienced it".  therefore, i shelved it before the midnight donkey ride scene, and hoped my

uh no. you mistook, happy island accent attained through conscious negligence of crushing poverty instituted by imperialist overlords for happy accent attained through repetitive engineering dilgence in crafting the immanence. easy mistake.

the hat tip is where i'm burying my axe lede in this one. is hodgman at the top of the list for this season's hiring of the hampton cottage? oh, la-dee-da. can't say it isn't funny to spend absolute loads of cash on something that's been totally refurbished to recall ever so feebly the reminiscences of a golden age

well they both started out arkies, so that's similar. ya, both writers get their characters into prickly but humorous situations, and both let the characters move through the situation without too much direct judging. but, willeford's characters are usually morally flawed (meaning they knowingly do bad things; aware

well done, captain dada.

liked for lactophilia parapraxis.

i guess there's a lot of us 80s kids who started out liking twisted sister then, what seemed like moments later, got caught in the mosh. like you and @avclub-ec160682cb3586d851071e80ec63d6c0:disqus , my trajectory matches: horror movies as a young teen; said horror movies include fast, racing music never heard before

resulting in your awesomely creepy avatar from, and i had to search for it a bit, englishrussia. see, it's got both russia and transhuman-monster. nice synergy!

i'd agree with ebert re alfredo garcia. i've seen that film about 5-6 times. after reading the weddle biography about 10-odd years ago, i really ally with ebert, because all of peckinpah's base misogynism and paranoiac tendencies are aesthetically consistent and somehow justified in that movie.

too obscure for those who have the impetus to do things like this. 'sides, i thought that the jodorowsky thing was interviewed to death in various languages, including english.

save your money and watch lee marvin in prime cut. or robert duvall in the outfit. pretty much anything violentworldofparker.com recommends. not surprisingly, they do NOT recommend this.

it's the unwritten letter that is key to understanding this migration about "letting hope die in one area…". that letter is i. coyne's getting into wine production.

i gotta chuckle out of that too. such a throwaway line that kills because of its verisimilitude to real life. just like weird ashley's burying hobby and how that line was delivered.

me likey discovering old portmanteaus. j harlen bretz would be proud to see you applying that coinage to a human anatomy.

really intrigued by the description of this flick. good job, tobias. any chance we could get a definitive, lukewarm list of arthouse rotgut?

i'm a straight guy who had probative homosexual experiences in grade school before i pursued with varying success: the ladies. nowadays, i don't have any trouble admitting in mixed company what men i find beautiful, or handsome, what have you.

i agree it's incredible, and i do enjoy watching joan's personality drop her on her ass with the debonair torquil popping in to save her from herself. i also enjoy the turnabout that torquil is saved from himself and the curse of the lairds of kiloran by joan. great stuff.

yes, that blew out my back brain when i watched the attending documentary on the criterion edition. i just kept repeating, "but it looked so real."
