Back on topic - yes, the original was anime all the way. I re-watched some old kids' shows recently on YouTube and you don't even need to look them up to see that they're Japanese (though Pacific Animation Corporation did Thundercats, if anyone cares) - Mask, Centurions, even Mysterious Cities of Gold.
