I love the Dziga Vertov Group period, too. It has some of his best - or at least most hardcore - films, such as "Un film comme les autres", "British Sounds", and "Vladimir and Rosa".

If you haven't even heard of the Godard film, please rent a copy right away. It is AWESOME.

Oh man, "First Name: Carmen" is a fucking great film! There is so much to enjoy there, including Godard playing himself.

You can very well think of everything after season 3 as a period of slow decline, in which case you can validly situate the jump-the-shark moment any time from season 4 to 9.
