The Leni Riefenstahl comparisons are ridiculous. It's basically "oh there's another female director whose name I remember and she also did some sort of political films so you're pretty much the same".

I have this yearly routine where I begin watching the ceremony, fall asleep during the Billy Crystal montage, wake up in the middle of the night, check if Deakins finally won, realise he didn't, post a short rant on twitter then go back to sleep.

If they bring original song performances back this year and it turns out that the only year they didn't do it was when THE FUCKING MUPPETS were nominated I will be fucking pissed as well. I mean, I like Adele as much as the next human female but if she's a good enough reason for them to bring it back and THE FUCKING

Agreed, McConaughey or Leo would've been much better. I would've picked Bruce Willis in Moonrise Kingdom though.

Yes but I'm not happy about it?

@Billie_Dawn:disqus Yesss. I also loved the gradually disintegrating Super Bunny and the way they were adding little accessories to Chris Pratt's costume to make him look slightly douchey in the beginning and then taking them away towards the end.

100% agree on Mirror Mirror, but on the other hand, so many snubs!
- Moonrise Kingdom for prod.design, costumes and score (or at least one of those)
- The Master for cinematography and score
- The Five Year Engagement for costumes (they seem to think costume designers in contemporary films just go to Macy's and get

I didn't even realise they changed it until you pointed it out…hm. Is this the first year they're calling it that? Could "art direction" not apply to CGI? That's weird.

The Master: some good acting, but otherwise pretty unremarkable

The thing that pisses me off the most each year are the nominations for production design, costumes, original score and cinematography. Aren't the people who vote for those supposed to be working in the field? They always seem to go for either "more is better", "oooh, people in corsets" or "John Williams, I heard of

@DDB9000:disqus I think you might be talking about Undeclared? There's an alternative version of one of the episodes on the DVD and I also remember some sort of episode-order mixup about Carla Gallo breaking up with Jason Segel and him coming to visit her.

Carax, both Andersons, maybe keep Bigelow and Lee. JESUS, HOW DIFFICULT CAN IT BE?

I'd see Horse War. Whore Horse as well. War Whores, maybe.

I miss My sister's sister and Damsels In Distress (or is that last year's?), but otherwise it's a pretty cool list.
