I agree about the uneven tone but it's actually what I like about the show. I feel like I never know what to expect from it, and even if it doesn't work out perfectly everytime, at least it doesn't feel constructed and calculated, if you know what I mean.

You're right, that's exactly what it is. Even when she gets (adorably) drunk and "lets go" a little, she still goes for the easy guy that coudn't possibly reject her.
I can't wait to see what they do with her in season 2, she has really grown on me in the last two episodes (or better, since the "Ew… Gay… What…"…

I don't know if you're interested in knowing that, but the show actually did develop most of the supporting characters pretty well in the last couple of episodes, including the men. I see how you could get the idea of them being just caricatures from the first three episodes or so, but I figure you stopped watching…
