I totally get your first point, but it worked for me because everyone involved was perfectly in character. So many shows have their characters do ridiculous things to fit the plot they want to tell, but here the plot was completely born from these people. I love that. I normally love Stefan and he's driving me crazy,

I'm not sure who wrote the last song specifically, but Nashville singer/songwriter Trent Dabbs wrote one of the songs last night, along with Kacey Musgraves, who Todd mentioned. I love that they're using real Nashville songwriters for the music.
