I totally get your first point, but it worked for me because everyone involved was perfectly in character. I'm not sure who wrote the last song specifically, but Nashville singer/songwriter Trent Dabbs wrote one of the songs last night, along with Kacey Musgraves, who Todd mentioned. I love that they're using real Nashville songwriters for the music.
