They do. They have story editors on the scene watching in the production truck every day parsing out storylines, and then they give notes to the editors who edit it (usually once the season is over, but Survivor is such a machine they might start editing while it's still filming).

I agree it was the extra 30 minutes. Reality television editing is really kind of an under-appreciated art, and when it's done with finesse it is fantastic. Unfortunately we will lose a lot of those little moments for a while because with this many people in the game there will only be room for bare minimum…

I think Suits is a better show because it's grown its ensemble in a way Covert Affairs will never be able to. But both this season of Suits and this season of Covert Affairs have been great.
