I really thought this was the best episode of the new season so far. Maybe the series. It was weird but that weirdness made it much more enjoyable, especially everything after the apartment and lawsuit scenes.

Those reviews took Sims from someone I was always mildly annoyed with to someone I have massive respect for. Those reviews are transformative.

It usually takes the worst of the worst to get art on this level, like Sims' reviews of The Following.

Oh god yes. If this was a Serious Cable Drama, Rookie would have entire episode's worth of emotional conflict confronting his feelings and it would probably actually be an engaging, if difficult, look at a taboo sexuality.

I'd wager the publications that said that still believe it.

The key difference is that Toni Collette not giving a shit and Kevin Bacon not giving a shit look totally different.

The same reason literally no one in Generic Public Place was fazed by the gunshots fired on Drubble McDildrum

Also Rookie is totally hot for Teenage Son. Let's not deny it.

NICO'S IN THE HOUSE LOSERS! FOUR EPISODES EARLY AND TRYNNA GET THAT CASH MONEY!

Great counter to this comment I made after getting drunk and watching Hostages.

That just seemed like the weirdest time to bring that up. I also might have forgotten that even happened despite it being a major plot point in almost every scene of this episode.

You don't even need 80 minutes, Person of Interest did a really good version of this in 42.

I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT TONI COLLETTE DID TO LOSE THE RIGHT TO ASK QUESTIONS

I don't even think daughter's Baby Daddy is dead. If he was, it would mean they give a shit about "loose ends," which would mean they'd have to go kill husband's girlfriend AND Nico (the only character whose name I know), and Nico can't die because he has to finally show up at the house in about five weeks.

All I need from this show is to be boring and terrible but have an actor I really love in the middle just kind of trying, and on that level, Hostages delivers. Sorry Blacklist, tell Spader to stop trying so hard.

Wait what? I really think this is the first time Andy Daly has been on this show.

Cam & Mitch hammer it home at least once a season that she's adopted and they want her to be in touch with her culture, so it's not really surprising that she has a weird concept of what her history is like.

Zouks, there it is!

You know who else doesn't give a shit? Hint: her name is Sonia and she's reviewing this show. She'll be here next week too. You two should get to know each other.

I am so goddamn disappointed that the absolutely bonkers "leaked ending" with Matthews popping out to shot Dexter wasn't real. Seriously, that would have been so many million times better than this. That, with the insane last minute twist, would have been a hot, steamy, glorious mess, and instead we were presented
