Toilet paper is curiously overpraised, and will not stand the test of time, let alone
genuine scrutiny: there is just too much suspension of belief required
to use it as a convenient place holder for our (other) values and
beliefs.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people (professional critics, committed viewers, et al) are willing to give their favorite shows a free pass and/or use them as a pretext to rehearse their own sense and sensibilities.

I think we're being premature here: just because Skyler believed him doesn't mean we should. Nor should we believe that just because he made a promise that he would keep it.

My question is: why are we so convinced that Walt really walked away from his 'empire'?

Either that, or Todd's family connections are how Walt begins to start up his own empire (ie, kill what remains of Mike's people and consolidate his own power outside of jail).

If his religious conversion is any indication, Stephen Moyer is not a good enough actor to pull off a believable big bad.

This is as good as any attempt to explain why Louie is remarkable : its not the content (which can be variable in quality), but the form ( which like Louie, is constantly being played with).

I'm aware of the phrase, and it makes no difference to your failure to understand the distinction being made. Interesting how you project your stupidity onto me, and then accuse me of being stupid. That must be a nice world in which you live: turning qualitatively distinct points into moral equivalences.
